Advocacy
Advocacy is a strong point of reason to hope which also allows the program to disseminate information gleaned from research and experience to relevant stake holders. In the advocacy toolbox are mainstream media, internet, posters and leaflets (printed and electronic) walks and processions, sensitization talks and also targeted meetings with key authority figures in the community. We aim to ensure that communities know that help is available, where to get it and what is required from families to ensure success.
We have over the years organized many walks and processions in Nairobi and various counties often simultaneously. We have also engaged media outlets and had numerous meetings with various institutions. Some of the results include mental health policy bill now pending parliamentary approval, policy and language change in Kenya among stake holders and government. As well as adoption of mental health programs and training in various institutions.
