Reason to Hope (RTH) is a Community Based Organisation founded on love and concern for those around us that are struggling to achieve or maintain psychosocial wellness. We seek to restore society’s hope for a better and brighter future.
The scramble for resources in modern life today has created an increasingly stressful environment to live in. Issues such as unemployment, high costs of living and the building pressure to conform to society’s standards have nearly brought humanity to its knees. This state of affairs left unattended, continues to birth dysfunction in families, drug and substance abuse and mental illness.
Research indicates that between 20-30% of all outpatients seeking medical attention in both public and private institutions present mental illnesses. Therefore there is need to develop effective mental wellness care services. Through our mental health advocacy, we provide information to individuals, groups, families, organizations on how best to handle their lives when impacted by mental Illness. We also equip caregivers with skills on how to care for their family members and themselves. We offer an integrated approach to mental health care. In order to do this we enlist the assistance of different professionals. These include psychologists, psychotherapists, social workets, psychiatrists, community mental heath workers etc.
Family and peer support groups meetings are tools that help us to bringing the affected persons and their caregivers and loved ones together. This way, healing comes in a wholesome manner. We have monthly Support Group meetins at our offices in Ngong. Previously, we had FSGs in Ol Kalau, Nyahururu, Njambini, Mukurwini, Dol Dol, Karen, Engineer, Chuka among other places.
